WellBenders Directional Services drives improved performance in the SCOOP Play

Oilfield Technology,

Drilling in South Central Oklahoma can be tough. TVD’s can be in excess of 16 000 ft, laterals greater than 8000 ft, and total measured depths can exceed 25 000 ft.

Couple that with complex formations with high dip and a deep intermediate casing point, drillers are forced to fight increased torque and control high deviation. These operations are tough on bits, tubulars, mud motors, MWD’s, etc. Planning is critical and one key to success is a strong partnership with the operator. Vitruvian’s Engineers and Wellbenders’ Operations Managers and Well Planning Engineering Team worked closely together to develop clear, concise targets and objectives that recently delivered Vitruvian’s lowest cost per foot drilled lateral and the area’s best field wide IP.

Spud to TD in 34 days with no failures

Working closely with Vitruvian to solve a significant problem area, Wellbenders and their mud motor supplier produced a more robust and built for purpose motor that has increased operating torque and power output, all while eliminating down hole failures. With these improvements, the output torque of today’s power sections can be utilised for maximum efficiency as shown in Vitruvian’s Anita Fowler well. With MWD quality control measures in place, we are presently working in a failure free environment. To ensure future success, Vitruvian and WellBenders remain in constant communication through their many pre-well and post-well meetings and everyday dialogue during drilling operations.

This level of performance and service, and a strong joint effort, are required to keep rigs running with today’s commodity prices. Continuous Improvement is sometimes used as a buzzword, but we at WellBenders believe that Continuous Improvement is a way of life and the key to being the best in our industry.

The drilling practices that have made Vitruvian’s operation a large success in the Oklahoma SCOOP are transferrable to the Permian Basin. Our Goal here at WellBenders Directional Services is to work closely with our clients to reach and exceed their Goals.
