Conveyor symposium held in Turkey

Martin Engineering has hosted the ‘Conveyor Safety and Productivity Symposium’ in Antalya, Turkey. Over 40 attendees from a range of industries such as cement, aggregates, dry bulk handling, coal and mining, attended the event.

The symposium covered strategies for improving safety practices whilst enhancing profitability. The keynote address was given by Dr Halefsan Sumen, a professor at Istanbul Technical University, on the topic of ‘Safety and Total Ownership Cost Management’. Todd Swinderman, the former President of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association, delivered a presentation on ‘Safety by Design’. A presentation on recent technical developments that have offered solutions to common industry problems, was given by Michael Tenzer, a trainer and field expert from Martin Engineering. Other topics discussed included procedures to reduce the risk of conveyor injuries, as well issues facing local Turkish industries.

According to Jim Turner, Vice President of Martin Engineering, “The most productive and profitable companies are the ones with the best safety records.” Speaking of the symposium he added that, “These events have been extremely well-received, helping management and operations personnel eliminate potential risks and improve productivity.”
