Four suction piles close to delivery for ExxonMobil’s Julia oilfield project
Fabrication started last September at InterMoor’s Morgan City facility, manufacturing four manifold piles for McDermott on ExxonMobil’s Julia project.
InterMoor is currently wrapping up the fabrication of four suction piles for the project: a pump station pile; a transformer pile; a manifold pile; and a subsea distribution unit/umbilical termination assembly pile.
Two piles are 45 ft long, one is 65 ft long and the longest one is 103 ft. The piles are 20 ft diameter, which is the largest rolled by InterMoor to date. Their weight ranges from 66 to 277 t.
The deepwater Julia oilfield is located 265 miles (426 km) southwest of New Orleans in the GoM Walker Ridge area in water depths of approximately 7000 ft (2134 m).
Safety is paramount
Throughout the project, McDermott, ExxonMobil and InterMoor worked closely together to ensure the Julia project was delivered safely.
McDermott and ExxonMobil also recognised members of the project team for their positive impact on the project.
For example, an HSE Recognition Lunch for the McDermott Julia Project took place on 30 April 2015. Selected employees received tool boxes and ice chests in recognition for their dedication to safety throughout the month of April on the project.
