Wireless Seismic sets new world record

Oilfield Technology,

Wireless Seismic and Asian Oilfield Services Limited (ASIAN) announced that another world record has been set for the number of live seismic channels recorded in real time by a cable-free seismic recording system.

Data acquisition

ASIAN is conducting a 576 km2 3D seismic survey in the Kurdish Autonomous Region of Iraq using Wireless Seismic’s RT System 2 real-time, cable-free seismic data acquisition system. Data have been acquired into a recording spread of over 11 000 active channels with real-time data transmission from a live patch of 6400 channels. ASIAN continues to raise the standard from their previous world record set in 2013.

Comments

Rahul Talwar, CEO of ASIAN, commented: “RT System 2’s effective scalability became very apparent as our crew deployed 13 000 cableless channels across this very challenging terrain. We are very impressed with the efficiencies realized in operating RT System 2, with no compromise to the data quality.

“The real-time capability allows us to actively monitor the spread and to know when noise levels are too high or when a problem exists. No data loss occurred due to stolen or damaged line equipment while acquiring data through heavily populated areas. We are pleased to have set another record with RT System 2, and we see plenty of scope to increase the number of deployed channels in the future.”

Industry milestone

Roy Kligfield, CEO of Wireless Seismic, added: “This new record is another milestone on our path to provide the industry with the adaptability and capability to record tens of thousands of cable-free channels of seismic data in real time.”
