SPE scholarship supports African students
To support excellence in education for African students, Society of Petroleum Engineers 2013 President, Egbert Imomoh, has established a scholarship available to those pursuing a master’s degree in petroleum engineering.
Created through the SPE Foundation, the Imomoh Scholarship will award two students from Nigeria and two students from other countries in SPE’s Africa Region a one-time scholarship payment of US$ 2000.
To qualify students must be enrolled in a master’s level petroleum engineering curriculum and be a citizen of a country in SPE’s Africa region regardless of location of study. Applying for the scholarship begins in October/November yearly. The deadline for application is 15 April with final selections announced 15 June. Applications are completed electronically and include grade reports from all universities attended, letters of recommendation, and a statement of interest/essay.
Commenting on the scholarship, Imomoh said: “Creating this scholarship is a way I can give back to the region where I live and the industry I have focused my career upon.”
