Leading oil and gas experts will come together in Aberdeen next week to explore crucial cost saving solutions for the industry at the 21st SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Conference.

Major oil and gas operators including Schlumberger, Shell and Baker Hughes as well as specialist companies EV and Agat Technology will examine services and new technologies that are fundamental for reducing costs and maximising efficiencies within the industry.

Hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section and the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) European Chapter, the annual two day event will take place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from 11 - 12 November.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Angela Seeney, Director of Technology, Supply Chain and Decommissioning for the Oil and Gas Authority as well as more than 20 other presentations from leading experts in their field.

Steve Cromar, Co-Chairman of the conference committee, said: “Now in its 21st year, the conference remains an important platform for well intervention professionals to share knowledge and build key relationships within the industry. At a time when many companies must streamline processes and identify cost saving solutions, collaboration is vital for ensuring we have a sustainable and thriving oil and gas industry for the future.

“The industry has faced significant challenges over the last twelve months and I am confident businesses and operators will utilise this valuable opportunity to exchange crucial knowledge and experience that will ultimately benefit the industry as a whole.”

A pre-conference short course on 10 November entitled ‘An introduction to well intervention’ will be led by Steve Moir of Elmar NOV and Richard Hampson of Halliburton. The course is aimed at those new to the topic or looking for a refresher and provides a brief introduction to the main types of well intervention operations.

The conference and exhibition are now open for bookings. For more information or to view the full programme of presentations and speakers please visit, www.spe-uk.org or email Rodger and Co, SPE ICoTA Event Managers to book a space – spe@rodgerandco.com
