A global IT and business process service provider, CGI, has collaborated with OpenText, the Exploration and Production Information Management Association and operators of the Norwegian Continental Shelf in order to develop a License2Share.
Used by operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf
The information management platform will be used by operators of the Norwegian Continental Shelf, enabling them to streamline work processes, eliminate duplication and inefficiencies. Moreover, the system will allow information to be shared across organisational relationships, thus providing detailed data – including on contracts, production, drilling, health and safety, and governance data to enable regulatory compliance and reporting.
License2Share has been in use since 2009 and is used by 57 organisations, primarily across Norway, at present. Users of the License2Share platform are expected to experience savings of up to 50%.
Senior Director in CGI’s Oil and Gas business in the UK, Sam Speirs, is presenting this collaborative approach to tackling information complexity at the Oil and Gas UK conference in Aberdeen. CGI aims to encourage UK operators to learn from the Norwegian Continental Shelf and to take a more collaborative approach to sharing data.
“In order to minimise costs and maximise revenues, much closer collaboration between operators, partners and regulators is needed. The experience of CGI working with the oil and gas sector in Norway is just one example of the potential benefit for the industry of a collaborative approach. License2Share has been developed by industry for the industry and shows what can be achieved through the efficient management of information in constructive collaboration,” commented Mr Speirs.
