Edvard Greig safety barrier status management implementation goes live

Offshore oil and gas digitalisation software provider Eigen, has rolled out a new state-of-the-art safety barrier management solution for the Lundin operated Edvard Greig platform, which has gone live to deliver real time status of safety barrier health.

Delivered in collaboration Lundin Norway and based on the Eigen Ingenuity software platform, the solution dramatically improves the ability of an operator to effectively manage and demonstrate the efficacy of their safety barriers.

The system integrates all relevant platform data and presents it in an easy to understand format, by showing status from multiple different perspectives for direct relevance to the specific personnel examining the status.

In its initial weeks, the safety barrier implementation has already delivered substantial value and solved the complicated challenge around the understanding and management of operational risk. The rollout is the latest extension of the Eigen Ingenuity Platform, which has been a core component of the Lundin Norway operations group digitalisation initiatives for the past two years.

“This is a further instance of a world leading software collaboration and delivery that greatly improves an operator’s ability to effectively manage and demonstrate the efficiency of their safety barriers”, said, Murray Callander, CEO, Eigen. ”We believe it reinforces our ability to use digitalisation to deliver challenging technical solutions to industry challenges at low cost.”

Eigen has been Lundin’s digitalisation partner since 2015. During this time, it has helped Lundin to deliver operations dashboards, real time visibility of people offshore, two mobile apps, a wearable, a digital meetings and reports facility and the ability to search across multiple systems.

Lundin’s manager for operational IT systems, Kim Jorgensen, said, “An accurate, live picture of operational risk is state of the art for the industry.  We are pleased to be at the forefront of improvements in safety and this project is an excellent example of our innovative culture applying digital technology to continually improve our performance.”
