Subsea UK to explore the future of underwater robotics

Sponsored by ROVOP and Saab Seaeye, the one day event will look at the new technology being developed by the industry and the potential which exists for advances in underwater robotics.

The call for speakers is now open for the annual conference which will take place on 18 September 2019, at the Chester Hotel, Aberdeen.

Abstracts are being sought across the following topics: latest developments in underwater vehicles, marine robotics and autonomous operations, survey and measurement, and inspection technology and operational developments.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “In recent years the UK robotics sector has seen substantial growth, with the UK Government announcing a £17.3 million investment into university research into AI last year. The rapid evolution of digitalisation, AI and automation offers multiple benefits to the subsea industry including greater project accuracy and efficiency for operators.

“We have held this conference for a number of years and have seen it evolve with the industry from an ROV conference to one now focusing on robotics as we see the growth of digitalisation across the industry. The aim of the conference is to enable organisations to review the latest technological developments in underwater robotics while discussing how the industry will adapt to the innovations.”

The deadline for speaker submissions is 28 June 2019.
