The Riser Platform (RP) jacket for the Johan Sverdrup development will be ready for delivery in July and was given the name Ægir at a ceremony held at Kvaerner’s yard at Verdal.

In recent months there have been several second-hand rig transactions in the offshore drilling space with a number rigs changing hands such as Borr Drilling’s acquisition of Transocean’s jackup fleet and Shelf Drilling’s acquisition of three Seadrill jackups.

The rig was named Heydar Aliyev at a ceremony in Azerbaijan by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
