Odfjell drilling has announced the signing of two rig contracts and a strategic collaboration agreement with Equinor for operations in the North Sea.

Equinor Energy AS, has completed the drilling of wildcat well 31/2-24. The well was drilled about 3 km west of the Troll field in the North Sea and about 115 km Northwest of Bergen.

Rig demand is expected to increase 20% from 2024 – 2025, meaning rates are up 40% from the past year.

The well was drilled about 10 km north of the Visund field, and about 190 km northwest of Bergen.

The active campaign that took place in 2020 provided 30 environmentally-friendly permanent seals in the Valhall oilfield.

The companies have signed a multi-year framework agreement to decommission wells in the North Sea, as part of the decommissioning specialist’s Plug and Abandonment Club offering.

The seventh annual Global Energy Talent Index has revealed that the recent gas price crisis has transformed oil and gas into the most popular sector for energy workers to join and has sent salaries soaring above pre-pandemic levels.

The company has announced contract awards or extensions for five of its drilling rigs.

The contract, which is worth US$250 000, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023 and expected to take around a month to complete.

The project saw a team identify the trouble zone and subsequently mobilise and install a short patch on a casing section of a well affected by corrosion.
