The winners of the 2019 Decom North Sea Awards were announced ahead of the annual Decom Offshore conference and exhibition.

The second annual awards shine the spotlight on the decommissioning sector for excellence in innovation and collaboration, whilst highlighting the contribution of young professionals in the industry.

The winners of the three categories were announced at an awards dinner held on 28 May 2019 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) and attended by more than 140 decommissioning professionals.

The ‘Outstanding Innovation’ category was taken home by Ecosse IP Ltd for its Ambient Lifter, which offers a cost effective and safe subsea lifting solution.

‘Excellence in Collaboration’ was awarded to Spirit Energy for their partnership with The Oil and Gas Technology Centre, recognising their roles in transformational thermite technology in significantly reducing well decommissioning costs. This effort stood out for the way in which it demonstrated that a range of companies can work together towards a common benefit without a formal contract.

A new category for this year, ‘Young Professional in Decommissioning’, recognised the work undertaken by the next generation of industry professionals and was awarded to Rebecca Allan, Decommissioning Lead of Xodus Group.

The attendees of the evening were also treated to a talk, ‘The Human Face of Decommissioning’, by guest speaker Gretchen Haskins, Chief Executive Officer of HeliOffshore.
