Influential leaders in the oil and gas industry will be briefed on some of the impending issues in the sector, including local, regional, and international breakthrough projects, in a VIP programme for top-level industry professionals at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2014.

Members of the Middle East Petroleum Club (MEPC) and senior industry representatives will be briefed on boosting oil production in Indonesia, Mexico’s role in being a global oil and gas supplier, and a UAE Downstream Briefing that will offer an update on the development of two key projects in the country: the US$ 10 billion Ruwais refinery expansion project by the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company, also known as Takreer, and the expansion of the Borouge 3 petrochemical complex.

The ADIPEC 2014 VIP Programme, which will be hosted in a purpose-built theatre, will also cover innovation in technology through industry collaboration, and the important role of women in the oil and gas industry.

“The ADIPEC 2014 VIP Programme brings together leaders in the oil and gas industry and offers them the perfect platform to collaboratively address critical issues affecting the energy sector,” said Claire Pallen, Conference Director at dmg events.

“This is a key opportunity for industry figures, decision makers and thought leaders to share and acquire knowledge on the challenges we all face in the sector and the innovative solutions that are available to tackle them.”

Offering insights in the development of the energy sector, the ‘Pumps and Pipes: Innovation through Industry Collaboration’ discussion will bring together experts from diverse technology communities, including engineers, physicians, and aerospace professionals, to explore their own industry similarities in the hope of sparking solutions to problems inherent in all sectors.

Hosted under the patronage of the Mexican Embassy to the UAE, the Mexico briefing will look at Mexico’s efforts to reach its global potential in terms of oil and gas exploration and production. ‘Energy Reform: Transforming Mexico’ will outline both the benefits and challenges for companies wishing to take an active role and invest within Mexico’s oil and gas upcoming ventures and form strategic alliances with key players. The country is one of the 10 largest oil producers in the world, the third-largest in the Americas after the United States and Canada, according to the EIA.

The ADIPEC 2014 VIP Programme will include a session on boosting and enhancing production in Indonesia, outlining opportunities for companies wishing to take an active role and interest within Indonesia’s oil and gas sector.

According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), a strong economy, population growth, and state subsidies for fuels have worked together to put pressure on oil supplies in Indonesia, and the country is reorienting energy production from serving primarily export markets to serve its growing domestic consumption.

However, information from the EIA also shows that Indonesia’s natural gas production has increased by almost 25 per cent between 2002 and 2012. In 2013, Indonesia was the fourth-largest LNG, following Qatar, Malaysia, and Australia.

Panelists will share market overviews, project status updates, and upcoming commercial opportunities within Indonesia, including new oil and gas projects coming on-stream in 2014 as part of the government’s effort to increase production and maintain and achieve annual crude and condensate production targets.

The UAE Downstream Briefing will examine Abu Dhabi’s development of its refining and petrochemicals activities to contribute to hydrocarbon diversification and drive the UAE economy. The briefing will be an opportunity for downstream business leaders to gain and share first-hand insights into market views, future expectations and upcoming strategic objectives.

The VIP Programme will also include a landmark finale to the “Women in Industry” series, a range ADIPEC 2014 events and initiatives dedicated to women in the energy sector.

The event will feature breakthrough insights from patron and panel speaker HE Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, and will offer live on-stage discussions and interviews with women leaders in the industry.

Established in 2012, the MEPC is a distinguished private business club for the most influential leaders in the oil and gas industry to connect with peers and colleagues. The club provides a platform for top-level industry professionals to strengthen existing connections and forge new ones in a discreet and private environment at ADIPEC and at organised year-round networking events.
