Oilfield Technology,
Fotech Solutions will be exhibiting its Helios Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE) on 28-30 September 2015 in Houston, Texas.
Fotech will showcase how DAS can add a new dimension of knowledge to the extraction process during various down-hole operations, including hydraulic fracturing, as well as its ability to provide real-time information in well integrity monitoring, helping engineers to mitigate the risk and cost of intervention.
DAS converts a single fibre optic cable in the casing or production tubing into the equivalent of thousands of highly sensitive sensors. By detecting the backscatter of light caused by the disturbance of acoustic vibrations, DAS allows engineers to visualise and record what is going on at every point of the well.
Chris Shannon, CEO, Fotech solutions remarked: “It has never been more important for the oil and gas industry to invest in technologies that will optimise processes such as hydraulic fracturing – both from an environmental and financial standpoint. The industry needs to take advantage of new tools that maximise production and improve exploration, by delivering engineers with accurate, intelligence in real-time.’’
