Offshore Energies UK says calls by politicians to impose UK windfall taxes on companies’ global profits risked misleading voters and consumers.

The project, supported by industry funding, is expected to complete by the end of 2023, with fast-track products available by June.

The contract includes the drilling of one firm well, ‘Tomcat’, in PL 1055 in the Norwegian Sea, with the option to drill two further wells in 2024.

Production from the Njord field in the Norwegian Sea has resumed, following an upgrading project in which both the platform and the floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO) were brought ashore.

The MOU aims to strengthen mutual cooperation to help enhance operational performance across North American natural gas and oil operations.

The survey area covers a mature part of the North Sea that includes the Sleipner East, Sleipner West, Gina Krog, Volve and Utgard fields.

Planning and engineering work will begin in December 2022, with decommissioning activity commencing in 2023 and expected to continue until 2025.
