Global Maritime Group to design vessels for Baoham Offshore

Global Maritime Group continues to strengthen relations with Baoham Offshore Ltd.

Building of the first jack-up liftboat underway

Based upon Global Maritime design, the building of the first jack-up liftboat is well underway. Furthermore, two additional new builds have now been initiated – another jack-up and a semisubmersible drilling rig. Both new units are also based on Global Maritime Group designs and classed by ABS.

Global Maritime Group is a worldwide company with its head office in Stavanger, Norway. The Group has six business areas with Global Maritime Consulting and Engineering in London and Stavanger, executing the Baoham Offshore contracts.

Baoham Offshore is set to become the first privately owned offshore vessel owner in China, with Global Maritime Group as design partner. The company plans to expand its fleet of offshore units further and become a key player in the expanding offshore region in Southeast Asia. The company has a first jack-up under construction at the Paxocean shipyard in Zhoushan, China, and Global Maritime Group is well underway with designing the second unit, based on its GM-J1450 design.

Semisubmersible drilling unit

Global Maritime Group is also developing the semisubmersible drilling unit, based on its GM-4E design, with a view to signing a commercial agreement shortly.

The GM-4E mid-water semisubmersible drilling unit will have an eight-point mooring system and Class 3 dynamic positioning, and will feature a variable deck load that exceeds 4000 t. The GM-J1450 liftboat has a swater depth capability of 80 m and will be equipped with a 400 t deck crane. However, Baoham Offshore has yet to select a shipyard to construct the semisubmersible unit.
