Next Geosolutions begins work on first multimillion £/€ contract

Next Geosolutions, an independent geoscience and engineering service provider, has secured a £12 million (€15 million) survey contract from Prysmian Group for the MONITA Project in the Adriatic Sea.

The project, which is due for completion in Q3 2016 and is the company’s biggest contract win since its establishment in 2014, consists of a 500 kV power cable interconnection being constructed between Montenegro and Italy.

Next Geosolutions is contracted to undertake a large geophysical, UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) and geotechnical survey in support of the cable route design and engineering in water depths up to 1200 m. The scope will be completed using two DP (Dynamic Positioning) Class 2 vessels: the DP Cirrus, currently fitted with a Schilling Robotics HD (Heavy Duty) Work-Class ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) for the geophysical and UXO survey, and the Ievoli Grey for the geotechnical survey.

We are currently at the survey stage, searching for a viable path for the cables through a challenging section of route, which is made up of a complex seabed and extremely dense presence of debris and UXOs.

“The survey results are extremely interesting and detailed so we are adopting a combination of our state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge processing methodologies to deliver almost online results and drive productivity on a fast track.”

As Next Geosolutions continues to establish its presence in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, it is planning to exhibit at renowned industry events throughout the year. Later this month, the company is exhibiting at Oceanology International 2016.

Next Geosolutions is exhibiting at Oceanology International 2016 from 15 - 17 March at the Excel, London, on stand H450. The exhibition and conference is the major worldwide event for marine sciences and ocean technology.
