Landmark, a Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) business line and leading provider of E&P software, today announced the release of EDT™ 5000.14 (Engineer’s Desktop™). This is a major upgrade of the industry’s only complete and integrated suite of well construction applications.

“With the industry facing severe pressure to lower costs per well and manage risk, EDT responds with added functionality and improved usability to allow engineers to better design, execute and optimise well construction operations,” said Nagaraj Srinivasan, Landmark vice president. “Our well construction suite is the industry’s most comprehensive and proven solution for planning, drilling and completing oil and gas wells worldwide.”

Twenty-four of the top 25 global producers use EDT to design wells from the straightforward to the highly complex. Integration among the different engineering applications helps reduce technical and operational risk as an entire drilling department works from the same information and scientific models. The new EDT delivers added functionality by introducing the CasingWear™ application. CasingWear was developed in response to industry demand for more accurate modeling of casing integrity and has been vetted by a major operating company. This company has already used the application to achieve significant cost savings and increase safety.

This release also updates industry standard applications WELLCAT™, StressCheck™, COMPASS™, OpenWells® and WellPlan™ to reflect the latest operational best practices and regulations.

The new EDT delivers improved usability, namely output-driven-input™ methodology and a simplified installer. Output-driven-input decreases the technology adoption curve as users need only know their goal—not the steps in the application necessary to achieve it.

The EDT suite is powered by Landmark’s DecisionSpace® Platform, the first enterprise-scale, standards-based open platform for E&P companies. To learn more about the Landmark well construction suite, including the innovative CasingWear™ well integrity software, visit Landmark Solutions.
