PGS executes co-operation agreement with Spectrum and Schlumberger

Oilfield Technology,

Marine geophysical company, Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has begun the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding for a co-operation with Spectrum and Schlumberger in Mexico.

2D seismic data offshore Mexico

The collaboration will acquire 80 000-100 000 km of modern, long-offset 2D data, which will encompass all of the major hydrocarbon provinces offshore Mexico. This includes areas in Mexico's Round 1 in the Perdido Fold Belt, Mexican Ridges Province, Campeche Deep Sea Basin. This will also provide seamless coverage across the Yucatan Platform tying to Spectrum's Big Wave programme.

Providing greater insights

After commencing on 16 May 2015, the previously announced PGS multi-client Mexico well tie programme is to be included in this collaboration. Additionally, two GeoStreamer vessels have already acquired over 10 000 line km.

Spectrum and Schlumberger commenced operations on 10 June with a third vessel and an additional vessel is enroute to commence operations in early July. These strategically placed surveys will help provide clients with a greater insight in preparation for Round 1.

Collaboration of three leading geophysical companies

Gregg Parker, Regional President of MultiClient for North and South America, comments: "PGS is excited with the collaboration which links three of the leading geophysical companies in the world. The programme is designed to allow delivery of the highest-quality data in the shortest timeframe to our clients. Mexico is a tremendous investment environment and this collaboration will help support further industry investment into this highly prospective area."
