Ampelmann awarded long term contract in the North Sea
Ampelmann, a global leader in motion compensated access solutions, has been awarded a long term contract by a large oil and gas firm operating in the Southern North Sea to provide a system for use on its offshore assets.
Deploying workforces safely and efficiently
The Ampelmann A-type system enables the company to deploy its workforce more effectively across its offshore facilities, thereby reducing helicopter costs and delivering more cost-effective maintenance.
‘Walk to work’ trial
The contract, for up to one year excluding extensions, will cover activities on manned and unmanned assets in the Southern North Sea. The contract was signed after the successful trial of an Ampelmann system last year.
This trial demonstrated that by enabling its offshore team to ‘walk to work,’ the oil and gas major could carry out its maintenance and operational support activities throughout the year, including in adverse weather conditions. The Ampelmann system is capable operating in sea states of at least 2.5 m significant wave height, thereby delivering more time on tools and a significant improvement in maintenance execution.
