PIM Relief, which was first released in May 2013, has to date been implemented on 55 assets across the North Sea and Middle East. The software was developed by Plant Integrity Management Ltd (PIM) to manage all aspects of the Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) workflow cycle. It is currently being used to manage in the region of six thousand PSVs and PIM expects uptake for the software to increase by 8% by year end and by a further 8% by end of Q1 2016.
Steven Plant, managing director of PIM commented, “Predictions as to when the current downturn will end vary with 2016 appearing to be the earliest date that we might see an improvement in the fortunes of the oil and gas industry.
“With this in mind companies are more focused than ever on reducing costs while increasing efficiencies and maintaining the effective and safe running of their assets. PIM Relief is a paperless system which introduces numerous efficiencies to the management of PSVs making it an even more attractive proposition to potential clients.”
Colin Shields, PIM Relief project manager explains, “Hosting PIM Relief in the cloud means that the data is securely stored but can be easily accessed from anywhere in the world. This results in cost benefits due to reduced administration costs as well as the system being more efficient. Updated information is instantly available to the user irrespective of their location.”
“PIM Relief is currently being used to great effect by clients in both the North Sea and the Middle East. The software centralises the management of PSVs from the test and recording of overhaul results through certification to risk based inspection analysis.
“During the development process for PIM Relief we were able to call upon our engineers’ years of frontline operational experience to ensure we created a product which meets the actual, rather than the perceived, needs of the industry in terms of PSV management. As a result the system is simple and intuitive to use with a workflow driven interface which promotes quality and continuity.”
“A complete register of PSVs allows for better accountability and PIM Relief’s intelligent resource planning tool can be used to create future PSV campaigns, ensuring no PSVs are missed. The software also includes comprehensive reporting tools which ensure the required information is available to the end user.”
