Survivex receives accreditation for its oil and gas training courses

Oilfield Technology,

International energy skills training provider, Survivex, has announced a hat-trick of new course accreditations over recent months. Survivex has attained approvals from the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), American Petroleum Institute (API) and the health and safety training body, NEBOSH – all of which are noteworthy approvals. The above accreditations are a response to industry demand and focus on teaching the necessary skills required for global markets.

Enhancing safety and competency levels across the oil and gas industry

These accreditations are the most recent additions to the Survivex training course portfolio and follow on from the announcement earlier this year that the organisation had been awarded its 25th OPITO approval, making it the most accredited single-site training venue in the world.

CEO of Survivex, Andrew Green, who took the reins in June 2014, explains: “As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing safety and competency levels across the oil and gas industry, our recent focus has been diversification of our current course portfolio. Accreditations from IADC, API and NEBOSH address the specific safety and technical needs of our clients whichever region they operate within.”

IADC has approved Survivex’s Banksman Slinger course

The IADC drilling industry training system exists to establish consistency across multiple training providers globally. The body has approved Survivex’s internally developed Banksman Slinger course which covers the principles of banking cranes. Survivex is also permitted to deliver IADC rig pass training, a standardised safety orientation programme for new employees which prepares them for operating environments, both on and offshore.

A combination of rigging and banksman training has been assessed and accredited by API, allowing Survivex to deliver qualified rigger training in accordance with API RP2D.  Another internationally valued standard, the API certification programme has been developed in response to an increasingly competitive business environment and the requirement for suppliers to demonstrate their worldwide service capability.

Comment from Survivex

Mr Green continues, “Receiving accreditations from these international awarding bodies further enhances the reputation of the Survivex brand for lifting courses across the globe and is fundamental to our vision to grow the international arm of the business.”

“Our third accreditation comes from NEBOSH. This UK based, but globally recognised standard, is essential for all personnel working in the field of health and safety.”

In summary, Mr Green comments: “Survivex has just celebrated its 4th birthday and we are pleased to announce that we have trained in excess of 184 000 delegates in 39 different countries since opening our doors in 2011. We are now entering a new phase in our development which will see us further expand upon our portfolio of accredited courses as well as the development of new and innovative health and safety related services.”
