Clariant Oil Services supports junior high school students
Clariant recently hosted McCullough Junior High School’s Science Bowl Team at its campus headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. Clariant supports the school’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition team in their efforts to attend the National Science Bowl® competition sponsored by the US Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., 30 April - 4 May.
The visit began with a welcome reception in the Clariant theatre with a safety presentation and movie screening about oil extraction in deepwater operations. The students then went on to tour the R&D laboratories to learn about the science of oilfield chemistry and the many important contributions petroleum makes to our daily lives. The students were treated to several lab demonstrations, ranging from scale formation to production stimulation. The day ended with lunch and a Gameshow Quiz that covered topics learned throughout the day.
Proud to sponsor students’ efforts
“This is an exceptionally bright group of students. We could not be more impressed and proud to sponsor their efforts,” said Nick Phillips, VP Strategic Development, Clariant Oil Services. “Innovation is the fuel of the future for the oil and gas industry. New breakthrough technologies will be developed by students just like these in the future, and in some small way, I hope Clariant’s support makes a difference,” he said.
