Imperial has provided an update on its operations at Kearl.
As a precaution, Kearl workforce levels have been reduced to essential staff only in response to the fires in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Air monitoring is in place and the physical plant is unaffected by the fires.
The safety of the company’s employees, contractors and communities continues to be Imperial's first priority. All Imperial employees and contractors working at Kearl are safe and accounted for.
Imperial continues to monitor the situation closely and has reduced Kearl production at this time. This action was taken to conserve critical supplies as they manage uncertainties associated with inbound and outbound logistics.
In addition to CAN$100 000 donated to the Canadian Red Cross, the company is providing accommodation, fuel and flights for the evacuated employees, their families and other evacuated residents of Fort McMurray.
