Seatronics Ltd Abu Dhabi, an Acteon company and part of its marine electronics, instrumentation and offshore survey supply business, has been appointed as a distributor of SBG Systems’ products in the Middle East region, effective January 2015. This is a significant development for Seatronics Abu Dhabi, enabling it to expand its scope of product supply to customers and bringing the latest developments in navigational and motion sensing technology into the region.

SBG Systems supplies a complete range of miniature and accurate inertial measurement units (IMU) and GPS enhanced attitude and heading reference systems (AHRS) based on MEMS sensors for the hydrographic and offshore industry.

Jeff Holtom, regional manager, Seatronics, said, “We are delighted to work with SBG Systems and to be the first to supply MEMS-based technology in the region. Our ability to supply SBG Systems’ products and technology will be of great benefit to our customers in the offshore hydrographic survey and subsea ROV markets. These ITAR-free MEMS-based systems will make transport, export and mobilisation of equipment a swifter and more efficient process.”

A deep-water Ekinox-U INS will be available immediately from the Abu Dhabi base. Ekinox-U is a highly compact titanium based inertial navigation system with an excellent price-to-performance ratio.

Thibault Bonnevie, CEO, SBG Systems, said, “We are proud to work with Seatronics. This worldwide company is a key player in the offshore hydrographic market. With their high level of expertise, their strong local presence and their reactivity, we see high potential in this agreement.”
