The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and eDrilling, a leading provider of drilling and well performance solutions, have announced that eDrilling’s drilling and well performance solutions will be implemented at NTNU for academic use. Specifically, students will now be able to gain valuable skills through use of a dynamic down hole simulator and a well planning solution based on the same models NTNU already uses in their curriculum.

“Through hands-on experience with current technologies, students develop skills that can help them be successful in the modern workforce,” commented Sigbjørn Sangesland, Professor in Petroleum Engineering at Norwegian University of Science and Technology. “Our objective is to inspire the next generation of technology professionals and help prepare them for careers in drilling and well management.”

“eDrilling’s Academic Edition is great training for real-world careers ranging from petroleum engineering to well management, and drilling services,” added Tor Olav Schibevaag, CEO of eDrilling. “In addition to being a great learning experience for student in itself, it should also broaden their marketability upon graduation.”

NTNU is Norway's university for higher education in technology and the natural sciences. NTNU has 7 faculties and 52 departments, and more than 100 laboratories and there are currently approximately 3000 scientific positions and 22 000 students, whereof approximately 2000 are of foreign origin.
