Statoil receives consent for exploration drilling in the North Sea

Statoil has received consent to drill exploration well 30/89 S on the Oseberg field. Currently, the company is also the operator for production licence 104.

Statoil has allocated 54 days for the activity. Water depth at the site is around 99 m.

Songa Delta is operated by Songa Offshore. The facility was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in November 2012.

The PSA has now granted Statoil consent for exploration drilling.

This announcement follows Statoil's decision to exit Alaska, as the company's leases in the Chukchi Sea were no longer considered competitive within Statoil’s portfolio.
