Emir of Qatar confirms IPTC patronage

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has confirmed his patronage for the 7th International Technology Petroleum Conference (IPTC), to be held in Doha in January.

The 7th IPTC will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha between the 19th and 22nd January 2014. It will feature an exhibition area, a 9-stream conference, 67 technical sessions, and is expected to attract approximately 7000 visitors and delegates including oil ministers, industry leaders and government representatives.

Technological innovation
“From four years ago when Doha last hosted IPTC, the industry landscape has changed significantly – with a steep increase in energy demand, as well as discoveries of new oil and gas reserves – major shifts are beginning to happen amongst the world’s energy producers and consumers. IPTC Doha highlights the importance of technological innovation and international cooperation in ensuring the industry’s continued growth and development in the coming years,” commented Waleed Refaay, IPTC Project Director.

The theme of next year’s IPTC is ‘Unlocking Energy through Innovation, Technology and Capability’. The conference will be hosted by Qatar Petroleum, and co-hosted by ExxonMobil.

Global energy demand
“The 7th IPTC sets the stage for another productive exchange of experiences with industry professionals from all over the world. This event comes at an important time in our industry, as increasing populations, new technologies, and economic opportunities continue to drive global energy demand” said Dato’ Mohamad Idris Mansor, hairman of IPTC Board of Directors.

The programme will focus on the dissemination of new technology and best practices in a number of oil and gas disciplines, and is designed to emphasise the importance of the value chain and maximising asset value.
