Total’s CEO dies in plane crash
Christophe de Margerie, the CEO of French oil company Total, has died in a private plane crash at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow, the company has confirmed.
Christophe’s corporate jet collided with a snow plough and was then engulfed in flames. All four people on board, including three crew members, were killed. According to Russian investigators, the driver of the snow plough was drunk.
In a statement released this morning, Total expressed its condolences: “The thoughts of the management and employees of the Group go out to Christophe de Margerie’s wife, children and loved ones as well as to the families of the three other victims.”
The BBC reports that an investigation into the incident is now being carried out.
