PGS announces multi-client 3D program offshore Australia

Oilfield Technology,

PGS has announced a significant multi-client 3D program in the Ceduna sub-Basin offshore South Australia.

Using PGS’ GeoStreamer® technology, the survey will deliver superior resolution and imaging quality as a result of broader bandwidth and deeper penetration. The program, named ‘Springboard, will see some 8000 km2 of high quality true broadband GeoStreamer data acquired with plans to start acquisition in late 2014.

The Ceduna area has become a hot spot for exploration activity following recent gazettal round awards to major E&P companies and represents a huge and under-explored frontier area with the Springboard survey area presently lacking any 3D seismic data.

It is widely expected that drilling will commence in this deepwater area in 2016/2017 and, as such, all companies will be seeking to improve confidence in their leads and prospects with new high quality 3D seismic data as soon as possible.

The survey will be acquired using PGS’ Ramform Sovereign and is supported by the industry.
