Tenaris is expanding its online library on the edX platform with the launch of two additional MOOCs – massive open online courses.

Tenaris experts will lead 'Introduction to Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG),' which starts August 18, 2015, and will encompass everything from the geology of the ground and drilling conditions to what products are used and why, and how selected, as well as their different characteristics. Currently, there are about 2200 participants from 113 countries registered for the class.

The OCTG course will be followed up by 'Introduction to Running Pipe in Oil and Gas Wells,' on September 22, in which participants will get a better understanding over a two-week period on how OCTG products are prepared and installed in oil and gas wells, safely.

Tenaris’s corporate university has been collaborating with edX, a non-profit created in partnership by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, to produce courses that not only enrich and advance its employees’ training experience, but extends its academic reach to the public and future industry employees.

“This collaboration with edX has been very fruitful, as it has introduced to us to the highest standards of learning methodologies for developing people both inside the company and in the community,” said Rolando Lange, who heads Tenaris’ corporate university. “We will continue to innovate, applying our continuous improvement philosophy, and I invite everyone to never stop learning.”

Tenaris’s second MOOC, “Introduction to Steel” had approximately 7200 participants from 139 countries with a completion rate of 28%.
