Support for US energy infrastructure

According to a new poll released by the American Petroleum Institute (API), strong bipartisan majorities of registered voters across a number of US states support increased development of US infrastructure and will back candidates who support producing more US oil and natural gas.

These voters, regardless of party affiliation, want more American made energy, according to API representatives. Also, it has been said that voters are more likely to support leadership that invests in energy infrastructure to produce and transport more of America’s energy. These voters, according to representatives, recognise the importance of producing more oil and natural gas in the US and how that will create new America jobs and strengthen the nation’s energy security.

The poll was carried out for the API by Harris Poll.

Florida

Among the 614 registered voters polled, the survey found:

• 81% supported increased development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
• 73% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources located in the US.
• 72% are more likely to support a candidate in November’s election who supports increasing the country’s energy infrastructure and producing more oil and natural gas from the US.
• 62% think that the federal government does not do enough to encourage the development of the country’s energy infrastructure.

Missouri

Among the 614 registered voters polled, the survey found:

• 83% support increased development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
• 81% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources.
• 72% are more likely to support a candidate in November’s election who support increasing the country’s energy infrastructure and producing more domestic oil and natural gas.
• 67% think that the federal government does not do enough to encourage the development of the country’s energy infrastructure.

New Jersey

Among the 602 registered voters polled, the survey found:

• 83% support increased development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
• 70% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources located in the US.
• 76% are more likely to support candidates in November’s elections who support increasing the country’s energy infrastructure and producing more oil and natural gas from the US.
• 66% think that the federal government does not do enough to encourage the development of the country’s energy infrastructure.

New York

Among the 612 registered voters polled, the survey found that:

• 87% support increased development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
• 69% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources.
• 73% are more likely to support a candidate in November’s election who supports increasing the country’s energy infrastructure and producing more domestic oil and natural gas.
• 69% think that the federal government does not do enough to encourage the development of the country’s energy infrastructure.

Pennsylvania

Among the 608 registered voters polled, the survey found that:

• 82% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources located in the US.
• 72% support increased production of domestic oil and natural gas resources.
• 70% are more likely to support a candidate in November’s election who supports increasing the country’s energy infrastructure and producing more domestic oil and natural gas.
• 70% think that the federal government does not do enough to encourage the development of the country’s energy infrastructure.
