Oil and gas industry appointments: August 2014

Some recent appointments in the oil and gas industry.

Per Rehn, Vice President for Business Development Pumps, Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco has announced the appointment of Per Rehn as the Vice President for Business Development Pumps for the Portable Energy Division. This position was created to enable Atlas Copco to drive innovation and develop business opportunities within the pump industry.

“Along with compressors, generators and light towers, pumps is one of the pillars of our Portable Energy Division,” says Norbert Paprocki, President of Atlas Copco Portable Energy. “The creation of the Vice President role to focus exclusively on pumps, shows the value we attach to the segment and the opportunities we see for growth in this exciting sector.”

Per Rehn has almost two decades of international experience in several key roles at a global pump manufacturer. These roles include Regional Manager Emerging Markets, General Manager for North America, Global Marketing Manager and Managing Director. Per holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

Colin Smith, USA Regional Manager, Wood Group Intetech

Wood Group Intetech (WG Intetech), the world leader in well integrity, has appointed Colin Smith to lead the expansion of its operations across the Americas.

Based in Houston, Texas, Mr Smith’s role will focus on developing WG Intetech’s business throughout the region, championing its industry-leading well integrity management solutions. This will include raising the profile of WG Intetech’s established Electronic Corrosion Engineer (ECE^®) and Well Integrity Toolkit (iWIT^®) software, as well as introducing new solutions to the US market.

Mr Smith brings with him nearly two decades of industry experience, the majority of which he spent with oilfield services giant Schlumberger. He has an exceptional understanding of the local US market and will lead the expansion of WG Intetech’s presence in the States and beyond.

Mr Smith is WG Intetech’s second senior hire this quarter, following the appointment of Sami Halfawi to head up the company’s Middle East outfit.

John Payne, Chief Operating Officer, Aubin

Materials technology and engineering specialist Aubin has strengthened its leadership team by appointing a Chief Operating Officer (COO).

John Payne a Master Mariner and Chartered Director has more than 25 years experience in the subsea oil and gas, renewable and subsea telecom sectors. His extensive offshore and leadership experience will allow Aubin to deliver a growing number of projects across the business.

Paddy Collins, managing director at Aubin, said: “John’s role is to support growth across our subsea, integrity, pipelines and well services divisions and lead the service delivery aspect of the firm which is on the cusp of financial growth.

John Payne is a qualified Master Mariner having initially enjoyed a successful offshore career in the subsea telecoms industry. After coming ashore in 1998 he led a number of change management programmes in both Singapore and the UK. He has held senior positions in the subsea oil and gas sector most recently with Hallin Marine where he was latterly interim chief executive officer. John has also had extensive experience in service delivery and business development as well as international exposure.

Andrew Green, CEO, Survivex

Offshore survival training and safety skills course provider to the global energy industry, Survivex, has announced Andrew Green as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing former CEO George Green, who is appointed as Non-Executive Director.

Established in 2011, Survivex has since trained over 130 000 candidates, seen employee numbers rise to 100 and has trebled its turnover in the last three years. Previously, as Managing Director, Andrew Green played a key role in establishing Survivex and building its reputation as a leading provider of survival training within the industry.

Following his appointment as CEO, the ambitious 30 year old will lead the company into its next phase of growth, with a focus on developing its portfolio of industry safety skills courses to complement its existing offshore safety training capabilities, whilst driving Global initiatives.

Vaughn Crisp, Vice President of Sales, Global Data Systems

Global Data Systems has announced that Vaughn Crisp has been promoted to Vice President of Sales. He previously served as the Director Sales for the Energy Sector.

The catalyst for the restructuring is the company’s continued growth and expansion of datacenter, cloud and satellite communications services into domestic and international markets within the Energy Sector in Louisiana, Texas and the Gulf of Mexico.

“During periods of rapid growth, it’s always exciting to have major contributors within the company continue upward into larger leadership roles. Vaughn has done an absolutely phenomenal job of building our service offerings and products for the Energy Sector over the last4 years, and is now building out a large team of sales experts to continue that expansion into Texas. These moves allow us to position GDS in the most formidable way possible,” said Chris Vincent, President.
