Maersk receives consent for exploration drilling

Maersk Oil Norway AS (Maersk) is the operator for production license 510 in blocks 6406/5 and 6406/6 at Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea.
Exploration well 6404/6-4 is to be drilled in a prospect called Tvillingen Sør. The area is around 180 km NNW of Kristiansund. Water depth at the site is approximately 260 m.
The PSA has now given Maersk consent for exploration drilling, which will begin in December 2014 and is estimated to last 120 days. The well is to be drilled by the Leiv Eiriksson mobile drilling facility.
Leiv Eiriksson is as semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the Trosvik Bingo 9000 type and was delivered by the yard in 2001. It is owned and operated by Ocean Rig.
