Istanbul yesterday hosted the working meetings of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Recep Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey and Taner Yildiz, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
The parties addressed a whole range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation in the gas sector.
Background
Turkey is Gazprom's second largest sales market behind Germany. In 2013 Gazprom supplied Turkey with 26.7 billion m3 of natural gas. The cooperation in the gas sector between Russia and Turkey commenced in 1984 when the USSR and the Republic of Turkey signed an agreement on natural gas supply to Turkey.
