Newpark wins technology award

Oilfield Technology,

Innovation in ground protection, enhanced worker safety and improved operational efficiency will be the focus of this year’s Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE), where Newpark Mats and Integrated Services (NMIS) will be recognised with a Spotlight on New Technology Award.

The company will be recognised for its precision engineered DURA-BASE® Advanced Composite Mat System. Eric Edwards, NMIS Director of Business Development will receive the award and deliver a brief presentation highlighting the various applications and user benefits the mats provide.

“It’s always gratifying to have our company recognized for the level of technology we provide to our customers. This LAGCOE award is just the latest example of the industry recognition Newpark has received,” said Jeff Juergens, President of NMIS. “The DURA-BASE® system continually provides value and cost savings to our customers in the oil and gas industry, and we see this award as a testament to our company’s commitment to R&D and innovation.”

DURA-BASE® is used widely throughout the oil and gas sector as a tough solution for drilling and completion operations working on sensitive or difficult terrain. DURA-BASE®’s non-slip, advanced-composite formulation can withstand loads in excess of 600 pounds per square inch and is ideal for supporting heavy equipment. The mats also reduce the amount of gravel aggregate needed for site preparation, as well as related trucking and remediation costs.

“Of all the applications we received for the 2013 LAGCOE 'Spotlight on New Technology', Newpark was selected as one of the winners for having pushed the limits of innovation with their DURA-BASE® system. From the cost and time saved, to the environmental and worker safety benefits it provides, this system is a tremendous boon to oil and gas operators", said Greg Stutes, LAGCOE Technical Session Committee Chairman. "It is through the hard work, creativity and 'out-of-the-box' thinking of companies like Newpark that extraordinary new technologies are developed to support our industry.”
