Oilfield Technology,

AMEC has been appointed by Centrica Energy Upstream to provide engineering, construction and project support services for their East Irish Sea onshore and offshore gas production assets.

The five-year contract is worth £ 75 million.  AMEC’s scope of work includes project support, core operations and maintenance and shutdown support for a mixture of manned and unmanned offshore assets, as well as onshore gas terminals in the Morecambe Bay area.

“AMEC’s alignment with Centrica’s business drivers and strategy as well as our excellence in safety culture, people development and systems were key in this award,” said John Pearson, Managing Director of AMEC’s Europe & West Africa business. “We are delighted to be supporting such a key customer, while also helping to secure the UK’s energy security, and delivering AMEC’s 2015 vision.”

The East Irish Sea gas fields are among the largest in the UK continental shelf in terms of remaining reserves.
