Claxton wins major contract with Total E&P in Norway

Oilfield Technology,

Claxton, an Acteon company, has won a major contract to provide conductor centralisers, internal centralisers, deck covers, drill bushings, support frames and associated services for the Martin Linge development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Effective centralisers

The first phase of Claxton’s four-year contract with Total E&P Norge AS covers 11 wells. The project agreement was finalised in September 2013 and first delivery is scheduled for June 2014.

Claxton worked closely with Total to identify the most effective centraliser solution for the development. A review of riser analysis reports and further investigation led to the development of simpler and more cost-effective centralisers than had originally been anticipated, particularly those for the splash zone.

Comments

Ann Vicens, Claxton structures product leader, commented, “We are delighted to have secured this contract. It strengthens our relationship with Total and will clearly demonstrate how our engineering capabilities, which benefit from Claxton’s deep experience of well-conductor structural issues, can be applied in similar field developments.

“We focused our support on designing what Total needed rather than selling what we had, and working with Total is rewarding, as their approach to technical challenges is open and collaborative. This promotes healthy discussion and helps us in identifying the most appropriate solution.”
