Qintiq-eVision partnership to address O&G industry’s history of tradeoffs between worksite safety and efficiency

Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes company and global leader in supply chain planning and optimisation (SCP&O), announced today that it has formed a technology partnership with eVision, the global leader in control-of-work software.

The Quintiq-eVision partnership allows the two technology providers to offer their customers the combined benefits of their industry-leading solutions, a combination not found in any other solution in the oil and gas and petrochemicals industries today. eVision’s Permit Vision has earned its reputation as a best-practice method for maintaining safety on hazardous worksites. The interoperability of the two systems allows project planning teams to balance cumulative-risk management with considerations of cost and efficiency

When Quintiq and eVision are fully integrated, the level of cumulative risk, worksite regulations and permit requirements in any given project are checked by eVision and communicated to the Quintiq system. Quintiq then optimises work schedules – covering both equipment and human resources – in real-time, drawing on data from eVision to keep risk to a minimum while delivering on other key performance indicators such as cost and span time. Of course, plans change – sometimes at the last minute. Quintiq is built to cope with last-minute disruptions. Planners are alerted and can respond immediately to disruptions, selectively reoptimising plans in order to minimise the impact of change, all the while keeping an eye on cost and safety.

At an eVision event in The Hague in May 2016, a proof-of-concept demo was presented to eVision users. According to Simon Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer at eVision, “The response we’ve seen here says a lot. The industry has been waiting for a solution like this to come along – by bringing together risk management and schedule optimisation, span times and costs fall without the expected rise in risk. Sacrificing worksite safety for efficiency is a tradeoff no one should have to make.”

“This partnership is a game changer,” said Dennis Ostendorf, Business Unit Director for Oil and Gas Quintiq. “Quintiq is leveraging on eVision’s expertise in risk-management and work-permit technology; eVision’s customers get access to Quintiq’s innovative planning and optimisation technology. Together, the two parts form a whole that will transform our customers’ bottom lines.”
