On January 12, 2015, SGS was awarded a US$2.35 million contract to perform vendor inspections for Cameron LNG, an American liquefied natural gas (LNG) company. This project involves the construction of natural gas liquefaction and export facilities adjacent to an already existing LNG receipt terminal near the Gulf of Mexico.
Vendor inspections will be conducted in:
- The United States
- Korea
- Italy
- China
- Japan
- Germany
- Taiwan
- France
SGS was chosen based on a number of factors, including technical qualifications, competitiveness and the comprehensiveness of the proposal.
The multi-billion dollar project is expected to be completed at the end of 2017. Once completed, the new facilities will allow for:
- The exportation of liquefied, domestically produced natural gas.
- The re-gasification of imported LNG for delivery to domestic markets.
The project will create new jobs in the region and provide America’s trading partners with access to new supplies of natural gas.
