Coretrax launches CX-IST (Inflation Support Tool) at ADIPEC

Oilfield Technology,

Coretrax launched its award-winning CX-IST (Inflation Support Tool) to the oil and gas market at ADIPEC, following a US$ 3 million development investment.

Wellbore clean and abandonment tool

The CX-IST provides operators with a critical solution to the challenges of traditional cement placement. It gives a positive indication that the cement will be set in the correct place before latching at the bottom of the work string using a pre-installed landing sub. Once secure, pump pressure inflates the elastomer to seal the wellbore. The IST is then released by simply picking up the work string.

The tool creates a 100% wall-to-wall base for well fluid or cement. The operator can deploy as many ISTs as needed in the same or multiple zones without tripping drill pipe in and out of the hole providing significant operator time and cost reductions.

Innovative product

Kenny Murray, Managing Director at Coretrax, said: “This is a monumental success for Coretrax and a game changer for the entire industry. The team is passionate about the business and has worked tirelessly for three years, from initial stages, to produce an innovative product, which will benefit the oil and gas sector.”

Driven by demand and to reflect its commitment to business in the Middle East, the company has made an US$ 8 million investment in Saudi Arabia, where a Coretrax hub has been operational for 12 months. Currently, nine members of staff are operational from the office; this is due to grow to 16 in the coming months.

Middle Eastern growth

Coretrax’s Dubai office opened in the summer of 2014 with an office and base in Abu Dhabi planned for early 2015.

Mr Murray continued: “We have had a number of enquires about the CX-IST, and, due to the high quality of Coretrax products, alongside our technical expertise, our business is growing globally. In particular in the Middle East, where we identified a gap in the thriving market and have since utilised the opportunity for global development. An addition to our Saudi base, we look to increase our presence in the region to best support the increasing demand.”

Having achieved year on year growth since launching in 2008, and establishing an excellent reputation for innovative technological solutions and impeccable customer service, the company plans significant further investment in R&D throughout 2015/16.
