API urges Moniz to approve LNG export applications

Oilfield Technology,

American Petroleum Institute President and CEO, Jack Gerard, has congratulated Ernest Moniz on his Senate confirmation to become Secretary of the Department of Energy, praising his vast energy experience in oil and natural gas. Gerard has stated that the API looks forward to working with Moniz.

Gerard also took the opportunity to urge Moniz towards rapid approval of LNG export applications that would mean more jobs and growth and an improved balance of trade, arguing that if natural gas producers are allowed to export natural gas, American workers and the nations economy will be better off.

A new report for API, conducted by ICF International, has found that US LNG exports could create tens of thousands of domestic jobs while having only minimal impacts on domestic US natural gas prices.
