The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Spirit Energy Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6506/9-4 S, cf. Section 15 of the Resource Management Regulations.
Well 6506/9-4 S will be drilled from the Island Innovator drilling facility, at position 65°15'38.07" north and 6°42'35.69" east. The drilling rig is currently at quay in hot lay-up.
The drilling programme for well 6506/9-4 S relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production licence 433. Spirit Energy AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 51.7%. The other licensees are Faroe Petroleum (28.3%) and PGNiG (20%). The area in this licence consists of a part of block 6506/9 and a part of block 6506/12. The well will be drilled about 8 km north of the Smørbukk field.
Production licence 433 was awarded on 16 February 2007 in APA 2006 on the Norwegian shelf. This is the second well to be drilled within the licence.
The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
