Peak Well Systems, a specialist in the design and development of advanced downhole tools for well intervention, has announced that it has made a further investment in its Aberdeen Technology Centre in support of ongoing R&D and commercialisation of its newly launched SIMULTRA range – a new generation of flow control products suitable for gas wells and other extremely challenging applications.

Following the investment, part of a multi-million pound investment in our Aberdeen Technology Centre to date, Peak’s Aberdeen Technology Centre is now equipped with new state-of-the-art computer numerical controlled (CNC) lathes and milling machines. Peak also invested in the latest coordinate measuring machines (CMM) as part of Peak's commitment to quality.

The new machinery will be dedicated to the manufacture of Peak’s new MetaPlex seal technology - a unique hybrid metal-elastomer seal that delivers both exceptional performance and improved recovery reliability - and a key component of its recently launched SIMULTRA Retrievable Bridge Plugs.

The new machines are fully operational with machining on Peak’s new MetaPlex seal technology having commenced this week.

This substantial investment will allow Peak to uphold its reputation for short lead times and provide production flexibility to all its customers with strategically placed manufacturing centres throughout Asia and the North Sea.

Paul Glew, Chief Financial Officer at Peak Well Systems, said: “This substantial investment made in challenging times is a significant event and highlights Peak’s commitment to pursuing product portfolio expansion as well as continuing to provide the customer with the shortest of lead times and the highest of product quality.”

SIMULTRA is part of Peak’s new generation of flow control products – a range of ISO-14310 V0 certified downhole sealing systems proven to meet the extremes of high performance, high pressure, high temperature and gas wells.

SIMULTRA Retrievable Bridge Plugs are currently available for industry standard tubulars in 4 1/2 in. and 5 1/2 in. casing sizes with a 7 in. option expected to complete testing in Q1 2016.
