JKC JV signs US$ 15 billion Ichthys contract
KBR and its partners JGC and Chiyoda have signed an engineering procurement and construction contract for the Ichthys LNG project worth US$ 15 billion.
A spokesman from KBR stated that: “We are pleased to support Inpex and Total in delivering what will be one of the world’s largest LNG facilities. This is a visionary project that will bring benefits both to Japan, through a long term supply of cleaner energy, and to Australia, through economic growth and community development.”
Once operational, the Ichthys project will result in gas from the Ichthys field being transported 889 km by subsea pipeline to processing facilities in Darwin, Australia. Estimated production rates are 8.4 million tpa of LNG, 1.6 million tpa of liquid petroleum gas, and 100 000 bpd of condensate.
Ichthys is owned by Inpex with a 72.805% share, Total with 24%, Tokyo Gas with 1.575%, Osaka Gas with 1.2%, and Toho Gas with 0.42%.
