FES International secure deal to supply DBSCs to Total’s West African CLOV field development

FES International, a global provider of fluid transfer systems, has secured a US$ 4 million deal with Total to supply diverless bend-stiffener connectors (DBSCs) to be installed on Total’s new floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit which is based at the CLOV oilfield, off the West coast of Africa.

UK based FES will be manufacturing 19 full assembly DBSCs for the recently delivered Pazflor FPSO unit and will be an important part of its new CLOV project in Block 17.

The FES DBSCs are designed to enable quick, efficient and cost effective installation of Riser and Umbilical Bend Stiffeners in often congested or confined areas. The latching mechanisms on these DBSCs have been tailored and manufactured to fit Total’s requirement, providing an automatic intervention, which offers safer and more reliable connections.

The CLOV project is an integrated development comprising a four field cluster off the northwest coast of Angola. The project consists of the oil fields Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta, and will be the fourth upstream development undertaken in the deep offshore Block 17.

This is part of Total’s preparation for drilling which is scheduled to start in 2012, with first oil production expected in 2014. A total of 34 subsea wells are being prepared for tie back to the CLOV FPSO unit, which has a capacity of 160,000 bpd and probable reserves estimated at 500 million barrels of oil.
