Technip wins subsea contract for Wheatstone project

Technip has won a contract worth € 245 million for the development for the Wheatstone and Iago fields, located in the Carnarvon Basin, which will provide gas for the Wheatstone LNG project.

The subsea contract includes:

• Project management, design, fabrication and installation of subsea isolation valve, production tee protection structures, spools and jumpers
• Transport and installation of manifold, foundation structures and pipeline termination structures.
• Supply and installation of 41 kilometres of umbilicals.

The contract is expected to be completed by 2015.

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron, Apache, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Shell and Kyushu Electric Power Company.

The initial phase of the project will consist of two liquefied natural gas trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tpy and a domestic gas plant.
