Applus RTD, the global leader in the provision of integrity technology services, has opened up an office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA following the demand for its non-destructive testing (NDT) services in the area.
The new office is part of Applus RTD’s strategic growth plan and has been driven by operations surrounding the Marcellus Shale Formation.
Martin Derby, Applus RTD’s director for US shale development, said: “Opening up a base in Pittsburgh has placed Applus RTD at the heart of the Marcellus Formation and has allowed us to provide on-site support for our existing client base.
“From this office we are providing conventional NDT services such as radiography, ultra-sonic testing (UT) and digital radiography testing (DRT), as well as additional support in geo-technical services including seismic refraction and ground penetrating radar for pipeline design and pipeline investigation studies.”
One of Applus RTD’s key clients in the area Paul Deakin, Facilities Engineering and Construction Manager at Range Resources, commented: “Applus RTD has been providing Range Resources with responsive non-destructive testing expertise at a good value. Opening a Pittsburgh office shows Applus RTD’s commitment to continuing and improving the innovative services that they provide to companies in this area.”
Mr Derby added: “As Applus RTD plans to expand within Pittsburgh we will be identifying significant opportunities, with our primary focus on our NDT services. In order to support the demand for these services, we will be looking to recruit local NDT specialists.”
