Leighton contractors win EPC contract for Icthys LNG

Oilfield Technology,

Leighton Contractors has won the US$ 93 million EPC contract from JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd for Temporary site works at Blaydin Point, Darwin.

These works support the future-planned Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities being delivered by JKC Australia LNG on behalf of the Ichthys Joint Venture (INPEX 76% operator, Total 24%).

The temporary site facilities works include construction of temporary buildings, temporary utilities and temporary civil works.

Graeme Dunn, National General Manager Oil & Gas, Leighton Contractors, believes the successful award of this project further builds Leighton Contractors’ experience in the development of infrastructure for the oil and gas sector.

Leighton Contractors’ project team has mobilised and the engineer and procurement stage is well underway, with construction to commence in late 2012. The temporary site facilities works project is due for completion in March 2014.

APLNG contracts

Separately, Leighton Contractors will also deliver $800million worth of gas and water infrastructure across rural and central Queensland after having been awarded two key contracts by Australia Pacific LNG.

A US$ 450million gas gathering system south of Miles in Central Queensland and the US$ 350million contract to construct Water Treatment Facilities at Condabri Central, Talinga and Reedy Creek, near Roma in Central Queensland, will see almost 1000 people employed across these vital projects.

The gas gathering system and water treatment facilities are part of Australia Pacific LNG’s multi-billion dollar, coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG export project.
