New course in offshore pipeline legislation

A world leader in pipeline engineering, operations, maintenance and integrity and emergency response training, UK-headquartered Penspen, which has trained over 3000 people in over 30 countries, has launched a new course in Offshore Pipeline Legislation.

This the first Offshore Pipeline Legislation course to be held in the South East and follows on from successful courses held in Aberdeen. As engineers and consultants to the global oil and gas industry, Penspen’s strong subsea presence puts it in prime position to advise on offshore planning, hazard, health and safety, environmental and major accident legislation.

The course will be given by Principle, Consultant Dennis Keen on 15 March 2012 at Penspen’s Offices in London. The course will cover the latest legislation surrounding the planning, design, construction, commissioning, operations, inspection, maintenance and abandonment of offshore pipelines.

Keen has 35 years experience in the oil and gas pipeline industry including experience as a constructor, operator and safety regulator with both the Department of Energy and the Health and Safety Executive.

“It is vital that those involved with offshore pipelines understand exactly what the law say and how the regulatory authorities interpret and implement the law,” Keen stated in an issued media release. 

“So often, people have an understanding based on inaccurate anecdotal information picked up “on the job”. This course explains precisely what the legal duties are and what is required to ensure compliance. Ignorance is no defence.” Keen concluded.
